Why Achieve Alpha?  Continued

Is there a lot of movement and noise in your workplace? Could the 515 be effective in such an environment? The hair salon I go to is a good example. The hair stylists are constantly moving and the conversations can be quite loud. So a CD player, two small speakers and a 515 CD was inconspicuously placed in a corner and track two, the alpha session, was run during working hours. The major difference observed was the volume. People were still talking about what was happening in their lives, but they were not in competition with each other to be heard.

A good illustration of the difference between using and not using the 515 in this salon was something the employer shared with me. She knows her employees well and can sense when one begins to get anxious. Thursday evenings are one of their busiest times and one stylist had appointments scheduled from four in the afternoon straight through to eight-thirty that evening. Her appointments began to get backed up and her clients found themselves having to wait. Normally, the employer can see the panic begin to develop, observing a sense of urgency in the stylist’s mannerisms. But this time was different. There was no panic. Instead, the stylist took her time making sure each client received exactly what they wanted, just like when her appointments are not spaced so close together. And even though her clients did have to wait, no one became upset or asked to be rescheduled. Everyone completely understood. This employer believes the difference in attitude was the result of using the 515.

Mind States by Michael Landgraf

It is apparent that utilizing alpha frequencies while working or during workday breaks increases one’s ability to cope with the responsibilities of one’s job. This technology, whether using light and sound or sound only stimulation, increases our ability to focus on the task at hand, remain relaxed yet mentally alert, and not allow outside distractions to interrupt our daily job responsibilities.

Regardless of what you do to earn a living, why is it that when you do something really good you are rarely “patted on the back”? But when you mess up, what happens? Yes, we hear about those every time. How do you handle that? When you arrive home, do you pour yourself a stiff one? Kick your dog? Is that how you really want to deal with your stress? Here is an alternative.

Virtual 515 MP3

Have your 515 ready. When you arrive home, turn it on and select track two (for alpha relaxation). Now go hug your dog, then kick back and relax. Let all those stressors from your day just wash away. You need to take the upper hand at controlling your stress. This is a good way to begin. Make this part of your daily ritual when you get home rather than doing quick fixes. You will live longer (and so will your dog).

What is your drive to and from work like? If it is a breeze, congratulations! Consider yourself fortunate. However, if you live in a large city and have to deal with stop and go traffic, the following example just may help you.
